Colon hydrotherapy stimulates the colonic muscles to work more efficiently, to work at their optimum. It is not a treatment which needs repeating every week; although it is fair to say, many clients with chronic constipation and other conditions may need more than one treatment. When the colon is functioning well a follow up treatment within 7-15 days may be advised. Maintenance of the benefits is recommended with a treatment once every three months or as the seasons change.

How is colon hydrotherapy given?

You lie down on your side on a comfortable couch, covered at all times by a soft fleece or bath sheet to preserve modesty. It is important to relax during the treatment so Sara will then explain the procedure and answer any final questions you may have.

An initial examination of the rectum takes a few seconds and then the speculum is lubricated and gently inserted approximately two inches. This is not a painful procedure.

You will be lying comfortably on your left side for five to ten minutes then Sara will help you turn back onto your back for the remaining treatment.

Warmed, filtered water slowly passes into the colon via a narrow tube and when it reaches as far as it can it flows out through the waste tube. This is a closed circuit treatment, there is no odour nor will you be able to see anything.

Abdominal massage (most people love this bit) is used to stimulate the colon to release and to identify and soothe any problem areas.

Colon hydrotherapy safe and gentle and takes approximately 30 minutes. You will be treated in private, your dignity is assured at all times and Sara will be with you throughout for explanation and advice.

You will not feel anything except maybe the warmth or cold of the water. At times, you may feel a build up of pressure or the urge to go to the toilet but if you just relax this feeling will soon pass. The tube will not burst or fly out!

At the end of the treatment you will return to the changing room to use the lavatory as required and get dressed at your leisure.

After the treatment, you will be able to discuss the outcome with Sara to plan a treatment and health regime which suits you. Then before you go home, you can retire to the waiting room where you can rest, relax and enjoy a cup of herbal tea with a slice of fresh lemon before going home refreshed and ready to face the world again.
